Why do I need to enter my social security number?

The only way for sellers to cash out (i.e. send money to your bank account, rather than request store credit) is via our integration with Stripe. Stripe is a very well known and secure payments API that not only takes care of our ability to pay out to seller bank accounts, but also manages the 1099 tax paperwork associated with your sales. The SSN requirement is a legal one; you can review the reasons for Stripe asking for your SSN by reading this support article. Stripe does not store your SSN or use it in any way other than to verify your identity. If you are uncomfortable with this requirement, store credit is an alternative payment option offered.
